1995/96 Season

As all ROTR fans know the 1995/96 season is missing from history. We know that Rovers were in the Cup Winners' Cup and we know that they were relegated from the Premier League. But the story of the season was never put into print.

The squad, managed by the team of Mervyn Wallace and Duncan McKay, would have looked something like this (merging the 94/95 and 96/97 squads):
G - Styles
D - Wootten, Dexter, Chapman, Bruckner, Lawrence, Ford
M - K.Clark, S.Clark, Malandro, Harper, Goode, Giles, Evans, Bracken
F - Race, Ntende, Maclaren, Upton

As a mini-series I intend to create some sort of storyline to explain the relegation and subsequent exodus of senior players.

I'm opening up this series to anyone who wants to contribute or has a "feeling" about what might have happened to a player. Does Ntende end up in Italy? Andy Maclaren finally give in to injuries? Dexter retire after another red card? What is for certain is that Styles, Bruckner, Dexter, Chapman, Kevin Clark and Maclaren all leave before or at the end of the season. Leaving Steve Wootten as the only surviving Rover to have played with Roy Race.

Any ideas are welcome and I'll see if I can put them into comic form...

    1. Hi Storky I think that key players get injured, others fall out lack of leadership player bust ups and team lacks confidence.
