A relatively uneventful season for the Rovers. A long running transfer saga did not seem to have a negative impact on the Rovers results. Italian giants Stadia Batori were in for Roy, but when the captain made it clear he had no intention of leaving they turned their attention to the double signing of Paddy Ryan and Buster Brown.
The half back pair, too did not really want to leave, but their sports school was struggling financially, and their signing on fees would clear the debts. However, a solution was found and the Rovers faced giants Carford City in a benefit match. But, Paddy would quit, to take over the running of the school on a full time basis.
A lanky Welshman was brought into replace the Irishman. Ossie Jones proved to be a great footballer, but his superstitious nature brought other problems to the team. Tubby Morton had won a large sum of money on a game show and invested across a range of sectors. Under the influence of Ossie, Tubby too developed irrational supersticions and eventually lost all his winnings!
