There was some disharmony among the squad, notably with Jimmy Slade, who was sent-off twice in a season. The maverick midfielder's last ever Rovers match coming against Walford in the Milk Cup when he was dismissed after coming on as a substitute for Rob Richards.
But still Melchester Rovers made it to Wembley for the Milk Cup Final and a comfortable three-nil win over Tynecaster United.

I was a regular reader during this season and it certainly was ludicrous. Of course the most ridiculous thing was that they portrayed Spandau Ballet as constantly pursued by hordes of screaming girls and able to sell out stadiums, whereas in fact they were well past their peak (and had never really reached that level of popularity anyway!)
ReplyDeleteSlight error, both Kempy and Norman arrived from Rockola Wanderers, obviously!
ReplyDeleteThis was when sadly I stopped buying it. Proper jump the shark moment. Mind you I was 13 then.
