I always liked seeing how Roy evolved over time, so here's a selection of 20 Roy Race cards and stickers, with accurately reproduced artwork. Roll over the picture for a description. I'll add some pre-1975 ones in time. You can also use these to see the different Rovers kits from 1975 to 1993.
Remember there are over 300 Roy of the Rovers cards and stickers to collect. Watch here, on Twitter and elsewhere to collect them all...
As always use the comments section below (no need to register) to request a card or sticker.

If RotRs ever comes back officially then I want you in charge of the merchandise! I would so collect these!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, loving the websites new look.
I've still got plenty of ideas left; there'll be some Christmas cards up in early December, they'll be printable.
DeleteBrands With Influence are supposed to be designing merchandise for a nostalgic customer, will be interesting to see if they bring anything out at Christmas. They missed the opportunity at the start of the football season. If not then it will have to be the World Cup or never.
These card/sticker posts get more views than anything else. They take seconds to make once the frame is done and they're great for SEO, so there'll be plenty more. I've made about 50 in the last half hour!
To be honest the merchandise released so far has been pretty disappointing. Next year marks the 60th anniversary of Roy Race so hopefully something will be planned to officially mark it.
ReplyDeleteShocked how quick they are to do, to be honest I was wondering how you have time to do them, your lost stories and your new story. Are there enough hours in the day?
You really should do some RotRs top trumps.... you could even include your new players
ReplyDeleteI started planning Top Trumps in July, but forgot. I have written out all the values, like Heading 10 - Blackie Gray, Toughness 10 - Johnny Dexter etc. Was struggling with the low ratings, Speed 1 - Tubby Morton, although they won't get used often.
DeleteI saw a Match Attax stand in the Co-op yesterday and thought I'd use that as a template for the Top Trumps, they're very modern looking. Done 2013/14 first-team, now working through the legends. Out on Friday 13th December.
DeleteStorky. Another fantastic piece of comic work. These are awesome. I love the 75 version with Roys new perm! Takes me back.
ReplyDeletePS Cyril Storky Knight was one of my favourite characters who I thought had a lot of potential to bring more into the story bck in the day. Thanks for your great work.
Glad you're enjoying it!
DeleteI like a lot of the fringe players from the late 70s, Knight seems one who the writers knew a lot about but didn't share. Perhaps if not for Vic Guthrie, Storky would have become a regular. It seems strange that when Roy was worried about a lack of height after switching Giles to CB that Knight wasn't given a run.
Aha! That's an idea for a story!
